Javier Mendez recently revealed the differences between Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov in terms of their fighting style.

In a recent episode of the UTC podcast, Mendez acknowledged that Islam Makhachev is more versed in various forms of MMA than Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Mendez attributed this to Makhchev’s extensive training with a variety of coaches, compared to Nurmagomedov’s specialized training with Mendez.

After defeating Bobby Green in round one, Islam Makhachev told ESPN MMA’s Megan Olivi that Dana White spoke to Khabib Nurmagomedov to confirm that the 30-year-old’s next fight would be for the UFC Lightweight Title belt.

“I just beat all four of my opponents. Four-win streak, I’ve had this past 11 months, and Dana [White] just called Khabib [Nurmagomedov] and said [Islam Makhachev] is going to fight for the next title. Is.”
