The Phoenix Police Department said in a statement that the alleged incident occurred in a parking tunnel at Footprint Arena in Arizona at about 4:45 p.m. — about an hour before the tip-off.
Police said that when officers arrived at the scene, they spoke to several spectators… who told them that as soon as they arrived at the field, the two athletes got into a verbal altercation that turned violent.
