Spain legends Iker Casillas and Carles Puyol found themselves in hot water after a bizarre conversation on social media.

While Casillas and Puyol played on opposite sides of El Clasico for years as captains of Real Madrid and Barcelona, the two enjoyed regular friendships on the Spanish national team. They are both now retired, with Casillas hanging up his boots in 2020, while Puyol made time for his career in 2014.

Casillas’ personal life has been largely covered in Spain since his retirement, much to his annoyance.

This was brought to light because Twitter was the platform for a pair of posts that created confusion and then consternation.
