FIFA 21:
Having been named the club’s player of the year in his final season, Gueye was sold to French giants PSG for £30m in the summer of 2019.
He has also been a regular in midfield at the Parc des Princes, winning Ligue 1 once, the Coupe de France twice and started the 2020 Champions League final. Gueye is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations, but had been a virtual ever-present under Mauricio Pochettino this season.
Current teams:
But despite his contract at PSG running for at least another 18 months, Gueye is attracting interest from his former club. According to The Athletic, the Toffees have ‘made a move’ to bring Gueye back from the French capital.
While they only formally appointed Frank Lampard as Rafa Benitez’s replacement on Monday, Everton have continued to move forward on their transfer plans.
Vitaliy Mykolenko, Anwar El Ghazi, Nathan Patterson and Donny van de Beek have all been signed in this window as they look to spark what has been a dire season into life.
Transfer:
Everton have reportedly made a move to sign Idrissa Gana Gueye back from Paris Saint-Germain, three years after selling him. Gueye spent three years at Goodison Park and became a firm fan favourite for his performances in defensive midfield.
While Gueye appears to have become a prime target in the final hours of the winter window, Everton are facing a number of challenges.
As well as the short timeframe available in which to get a deal done, Goodison Park is far from an attractive destination considering the club’s plight.
