Wife
Clemson’s former wide receiver Hunter Renfro and his wife Camilla took to Instagram this week to make a big announcement — the couple are expecting their first child. Renfro is shown holding an ultrasound picture, and Camilla says, “Cutest miracle! Baby Renfro is coming soon and we couldn’t be more excited! Thank you Jesus for this precious little one, our hearts burst.” are.”
A Bullsworth Trophy winner as a senior at Clemson, Renfro left the school with the record for consecutive games starting by a receiver (47) and catching (43). On top of that, his 37 career catches in the college football playoffs is also the best ever.
Trade
The Red Sox announced that they have signed outfielder Hunter Renfro to a one-year contract (via MasLive’s Chris Cotillo). As Alex Spear of the Boston Globe (Twitter link) reports, he will be guaranteed a basic salary of $3.1MM with an additional $600K available in incentives.
Renfro, 29, in January became a free agent after being completely freed by the Rays last month. Tampa Bay decided it was unwilling to award him an arbitration contract, estimated in the $4MM range, on the heels of a disastrous 2020 season. The right-handed hitter managed just .156/.252/.393 slash line with eight homers from over 139 plate appearances in his lone season in Tampa Bay. It certainly wasn’t what the Rays had in mind when they acquired Renfro as part of the deal that sent Tommy Pham and Jake Cronenworth to the Padres last off-season.
Fantasy
Hunter Renfro saw six goals on Sunday, running in five for 77 yards, adding a score.
fantasy effect
Renfro has been pretty solid for the Raiders this season, and he should continue to have a role with the team, even if it doesn’t merit a ton of fantasy value. Most of Renfro’s targets are close to the line of melee, which in turn limits Renfro’s overhead as to the type of yardage he can hold. Still, it was a good game for him and he is proving himself to be a roster in fantasy. He should definitely be someone to see if you had any injuries in the WR last weekend.
Salary
Hunter Renfro’s salary is $850,000, which includes a signing bonus of $78,987. Hunter Renfro has a net worth of $3,649,260.
Hunter Renfro currently plays for the Las Vegas Raiders in the National Football League, the senior football league in the United States.
ESPN
Outside of an injury that cost him three games, Hunter Renfro’s rookie season couldn’t have been better. The former Clemson star caught 49 passes for 605 yards and four touchdowns during his rookie season as he quickly became one of Derek Carr’s favorite goals.
Entering the 2020 season, Renfro is locked in the starting spot from the slot. The team added receivers Henry Rugs III and Brian Edwards to the draft, but both players are mainly off receivers and should only help free Renfro in the middle of the field.
In a recent article by ESPN’s panel of fantasy analysts, many choose Renfro as a potential breakout star for the 2020 season. Here’s what senior writer Eric Carabel had to say about entering Reno’s second season
Error
Monday was not a Boston Red Sox day in terms of defense.
Alex Verdugo loses a Nelson Cruz fly ball in the sun with bases loaded in the fourth inning. The ball ended up bouncing towards the wall, making all three runs. Cruise scored after Taylor Motter airmailed it into the stands.
But Verdugo’s struggle did not stop there. Verdugo jumped for an Austin Meadows deep fly in the ninth inning, but the ball bounced off the wall and rolled to the infield. Fielders from the other corner did not support their teammate, leaving Jose Iglesias to walk off the field to retrieve it. By that time it was too late and Meadows had started running door-to-door on the park itself.
