North Carolina is a member of the 2022 Elite Eight. Caleb Love, 30 points behind No. 8 seed UNC, beat No. 4 seed UCLA 73-66. The Tar Heels will play No. 15 seed St Peters on Sunday.

The celebration was put on hold for some time as the referee asked R.J. Davis was on the free throw line, but then the party began as the waters were blowing, there was dancing, and the Tar Heels ran up the ladder of the Elite Eight. Check out Carolina’s celebration on the court that took place in the inn’s locker room where Love was doused with water and UCN head coach Hubert Davis hit the grid.

With 3:16 remaining on the clock, UNC trailed the Bruins 62-61. That’s when head coach Hubert Davies looked at his team and said what was needed to get the best out of them for the rest of the competition.

“In less than four minutes, Coach Davis told us to give our all,” Armando Bacot said after the game. “None of us wanted to go home and we knew it was a good opportunity in front of us. I was trying to impress the game as much as possible. Luckily it was positive and we hit a big shot. And got a few stops and rebounds, and I’m happy with the results.

Wife

Who is Hubert Davis’ wife Leslie? People are thinking about the head coach of the University of North Carolina ahead of the Elite Eight game at this year’s NCAA Tournament.

The 2022 NCAA Tournament concluded its Elite Eight round today with the North Carolina Tar Heels taking on St. Peter’s Peacock. St Peters is undoubtedly the Cinderella story of this year’s tournament, becoming the first No. 15 seed to advance to the Elite Eight.

Meanwhile, No. 8 North Carolina has won over No. 1 Seed Baylor and UCLA, and leads 9-1 in the last 10 games.

Salary

And thanks to his continued success this season, Davis is earning some extra cash. In addition to his $1.75 million annual salary, Davis has earned a $25,000 bonus for a place in the NCAA Tournament and $75,000 for both the Round of 32 and Sweet 16.

If Davis can lead his team to the Elite Eight, he will earn an additional $200,000. He’ll get another $200,000 for a place in this year’s Final Four in New Orleans and a cool quarter-million for a national championship win.

This weekend in Philadelphia could be big for Davis’ team and their wallet.

Playing career

The New York Knicks selected Davis as the 20th overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft. After Hugh Hollins called a controversial foul against Scottie Pippen in Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference semifinal against the Chicago Bulls, he won the free throw to give the Knicks an 87–86 win.

Davis stayed with New York for four years, and was traded to the Toronto Raptors before the 1996–97 season. After Toronto, Davis spent time with the Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons and New Jersey Nets. Davis played his last NBA game in 2004, finishing with a career average of 8.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Davis’s nearly 44.1% NBA career three-point shot percentage places him third behind Steve Kerr and Seth Curry.
