Hope Amelia Solo (born 30 July 1981) is an American former football goalkeeper. She was the goalkeeper for the United States women’s national football team from 2000 to 2016 and is a World Cup champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist. After playing at the collegiate level for the University of Washington, she played professionally for the Philadelphia Charge in the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA). When WUSA folded after its first season, it traveled to Europe to play for top division leagues in Sweden and France. From 2009 to 2011, she played in Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) for St. Louis Athletica, Atlanta Beat and MagicJack. After WPS ceased operations in early 2012, she played for the Seattle Sounders in the W-League. She most recently played for Seattle Reign FC in the National Women’s Soccer League, the top division of women’s football in the United States.

Family
Solo is married to former American football player Jeremy Stevens. They have been together since mid-August 2012 when Solo returned from the Olympics. On 12 November 2012, Stevens was arrested in an investigation into the attack following a brawl in which Solo was injured. The next day, Stevens was released after a judge determined that there was not enough evidence to hold him. The couple were married the next day. In December 2019, Solo announced that she and Stevens were expecting twins. The couple welcomed Vittorio Genghis and Lozen Oriana Judith Stevens on March 4, 2020.
In 2014, Solo was one of the victims of an iCloud leak of celebrity photos, during which several nude photos of her were leaked online. She expressed solidarity with the other women affected and criticized the perpetrators, saying “the act is beyond the limits of human decency.

Former US women’s national team star goalkeeper Hope Solo was arrested in North Carolina after her two-year-old twins were found outside behind the wheel of a vehicle, police said.
A police report said Solo was arrested Thursday in the parking lot of a shopping center in Winston-Salem and charged with impaired driving, resisting a public official, and child abuse. The report indicated that he has been released from prison and that the court date is June 28.
According to the arrest warrant, a passerby saw Solo pass by for more than an hour with the vehicle’s engine running behind the steering wheel and two children in the back seat.
A defendant officer could smell the alcohol, and the warrant said Solo refused a field sobriety test and had his blood drawn instead.
Rich Nichols, a Texas attorney representing Solo, released a statement Friday but did not respond to specific questions on the allegations and said his client would not respond either.
“On the counsel’s advice, Hope cannot talk about the situation, but she wants everyone to know that her children are her life, that she has been released immediately and is now at home with her family.” That story is more sympathetic than the initial allegations suggest, and she looks forward to her opportunity to defend these allegations,” Nicole said.
