Home Run Derby: Odds 2022| Is aaron judge in the 2022| Who is in the 2022

The Home Run Derby is an annual home run hitting competition in Major League Baseball (MLB) usually held the day before the MLB All-Star Game, which holds the competition on a Monday in July. A “home run” in the context of competition involves hitting a baseball on the fly in the proper field outside the field of play. This differs from the home run hit during legal gameplay in which the batsman is not competing against a pitcher and a defensive team is attempting an out. In the home run derby, all pitches are purposefully thrown slowly and at a closer range than the official 60 ft 6 in (18.44 m) distance, usually by a pitching coach behind the pitching screen. Also, like in batting practice, the batsman remains in the batsman’s box after each swing, and does not run, nor round the bases to score a run.

Home Run Derby: Odds 2022| Is aaron judge in the 2022| Who is in the 2022

The ground for the 2022 Home Run Derby at the MLB All-Star Game was set for Thursday and we have found the odds on the DraftKings sportsbook. New York Mets 1B Pete Alonso will be looking for a three-peat as HR Derby champion, winning in 2019 and 2021 (2020 was canceled due to the pandemic). Others who will compete and try to prevent Alonso from winning again include Philadelphia Phillies OFF/DH Kyle Schwarber, Juan Soto’s Washington Nationals and Ronald Acuna Jr.’s Atlanta Braves.

Is aaron judge in the 2022

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is the most prolific long-ball hitter in MLB at the moment, but he doesn’t plan to show off his talent in this year’s home run derby.

“No. No need, I’ve already done it once,” Judge told the New York Post’s Peter Botte on Thursday. “I’m good with that.”

Judge won the 2017 Home Run Derby as a rookie, launching 47 total moonshots to become the fourth Yankees to win the event. But his performance during the competition adversely affected his game for the rest of the season, as he batted .185 in August and was slowed by a shoulder injury that required arthroscopic surgery in the off-season.

This season, Judge leads the majors with 25 home runs and is on 65 at a 162-game pace per Botte, which would surpass Roger Maris’s franchise record of 61. He is the starting front-runner for the American League MVP, as he also leads in MLB runs (53), slugging percentage (.683) and OPS (1.067). On the back of a scorching start from Judge, the Yankees have the best record in the league with 46-16.

Judge, 30, is set to become a free agent this year after turning down a seven-year contract offer from the Yankees for $213.5 million during the off-season. He will also be the subject of an arbitration hearing next Wednesday to determine his salary for 2022. The judges are seeking $21 million, while the Yankees are countering at $17 million, but those numbers were submitted before the start of the season.

Who is in the 2022

Gunning for history, back-to-back champion Pete Alonso will begin his chase for a third title as the No. 2 seed in the 2022 home run derby at Dodgers Stadium on Monday night.

The New York Mets star will face No. 7 seed Ronald Acua Jr. in a rematch from his tilt in the second round of the 2019 Home Run Derby. Alonso hit a buzzer-beating homer to eliminate Acuna on his way to his first Derby win.

Alonso, who has hit 23 homers this season and leads the National League with 72 RBIs, is just the third player in history to win back-to-back derby titles. A third win would tie him with Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. for the most ever.

National League home run leader Kyle Schwarber is the top seed in the event and will face future Hall of Famer and No.8 seed Albert Pujols.

Schwarber, who has hit 28 homers this season, is making his second appearance in the Derby. He came in second in 2018 behind now-teammate Bryce Harper.

A Derby veteran, Pujol is competing in his fifth event, although he has only reached the final once. Pujols is fifth in MLB history with 684 homers and six hits so far this season in a return to the St. Louis Cardinals.
