Expedition organizers and officials said famous American ski climber Hilarie Nelson went missing on Nepal’s Manaslu mountain the same day an avalanche killed a Nepalese climber on the same peak.

Nelson was skiing down Manaslu with his partner Jim Morrison on Monday after successfully scaling the world’s eighth highest mountain.

“She had an accident yesterday as she was landing shortly after her summit,” Jiban Ghimire of Shangri-La Nepal Treks, which organized the expedition, told AFP on Tuesday. “We’re trying to get clarity on what happened.”
