Techniques of High Jump
(a) Scissor Jump (Crossing of legs over bar and landing on foot)
(b) Western roll (Crossing by rolling over the bar and landing with back)
(c) Straddle Style (Jumper goes over facing the bar and land on the other foot).
(d) Forbury Flop (This is the latest technique in which body are is used to clear the bar
with back and landingon the shoulders.)

Straddle Style: In this method the take-off foot is nearest to the bar. The jumper goes over
facing the har and lands on the other foot.

Approach run : Five to nine strides are taken to enable the jumper to get as much speed as
required. The running is done at about 35°_45° to the bar.

Take-off: The last stride should be long. The take-off foot should touch the take-off point
in heel ball toe action. During the take-off arms should swing upwards. The free leg is given swing above the head.

High Jump Action

Action in Air: After taking off the free leg and same side arm will cross the bar first togather with head. As the body comes over the
bar the take off leg is given kick in upward direction to clear the bar.

Landing: In straddle style the landing is done on shoulders or back depending upon the torque.
