Hendon Hooker, a quarterback from Tennessee, was not initially projected as one of the top four quarterback prospects in this year’s draft class, and he saw himself slip out of the first round on Thursday night. Just three quarterbacks were taken in the first round: Alabama’s Bryce Young, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, and Florida’s Anthony Richardson. The expectation was that a couple more signal-callers would follow suit, but that never happened. Hooker, who is 25 years old, is recovering from an ACL tear, which hurt his draft stock a bit, but some people still thought he could have been picked in the first 31 picks. However, despite the disappointment, there are still several landing spots that could be a good fit for him over the next couple of rounds.

A draft steal in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown is regarded as one of the best receivers of the 2010s, accumulating the most first-team All-Pro selections at his position throughout the decade with four consecutive selections (2014–2017), all as a member of the Steelers. He amassed more receptions than any other player in the league from his rookie season in 2010 through 2018. He is the current chair president of Kanye West’s sports fashion line Donda Sports.

The Detroit Lions selected Hendon Hooker with the 68th overall pick in the draft, a player who was widely rumored to be a quarterback target for the Minnesota Vikings. Hooker, a 25-year-old quarterback from Tennessee, had been heavily projected as a first-round pick for the Vikings in the lead-up to the draft.

However, the Lions made a move by trading up in the third round to secure Hooker’s selection 19 picks ahead of the Vikings’ second pick. It’s possible that the Lions chose Hooker to give themselves a year to evaluate their future quarterback, as Goff will no longer have any guaranteed money left on his contract after the 2024 season. It’s worth noting that Hooker is only three years younger than Goff.
