Charles said: “My two sisters ride in this sport, they’re both a bit younger than me, but they made their five-star debut last year riding in a team with me at Falsterbo in Sweden, which was cool.”Scarlett 23 1 year old and Sienna is 21 years old so we are all very close in age.

Showjumping

Harry Charles’ decision to give up a career in golf paid off as he followed in the footsteps of his father Peter by winning Olympic gold in the team jumping final at the Château de Versailles.

Peter Charles was a member of the British team that claimed the title at Greenwich Park at London 2012 alongside Nick Skelton, Ben Maher and Scott Brash and the latter two athletes teamed up with Harry this time.

Harry Charles said: “He said enjoy everything you do, you’ve worked hard to get here and later he said enjoy every minute of that ceremony because it’s probably the best moment of your life.” It will be a good moment.

“I was there [at London 2012], I was 12 or 13 when I saw these two boys and it was great [riding] with them, they’ve been my heroes ever since I started riding. I look up to those guys and being on stage with them, my younger self is a little nervous.”

Olympics

Harry Charles was 13 when he watched his father Peter win a gold medal in team show jumping at London 2012.

This was the moment he realized what he really wanted to do – abandoning his early golf career to focus on horsemanship.

However, he never dreamed that he would equal his father in winning Olympic gold medals, and even more so, with Scott Brash and Ben Maher, who were part of the team in London.

In doing so, Charles is the first father-son combination to win Olympic gold for Team GB since 1948 – rowers Dickie and Charles Burnell (1908) being the last to do so.

But Harry Charles would certainly be the first to win in a slightly different format alongside his father’s teammates, the London-winning quartet of Maher, Brash, Peter Charles and Nick Skelton.
