Hard Knocks is a reality sports documentary television series produced by NFL Films and HBO. The show was first broadcast in 2001, and the current 2021 season is the 16th.

The first episode of “Hard Knocks” begins on Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 10 p.m. ET on HBO. New hour-long episodes will premiere each of the next four Tuesdays through Sept. 6.

2022 Announcement:
The Lions will be the 18th team — in 17 seasons — to be the featured franchise on “Hard Knocks.” The series featured both Los Angeles teams in 2020, with the Rams going 10-6 and the Chargers going 7-9.
The Cowboys were 2021’s featured team, becoming the second franchise in as many years to make it to the playoffs after featuring on “Hard Knocks.” The Lions can only hope to be the third (which would give the team its first playoff appearance since 2016).
2022 Episodes:
Can the Lions improve upon their 2021 season? Probably! But that’s only because Detroit finished the year with the second worst record in the NFL (3-13-1).
The journey to relevancy begins in training camp as head coach Dan Campbell and starting quarterback Jared Goff hope to turn around the franchise.
The Lions aren’t the only team receiving the Hard Knocks treatment this season. HBO will once again offer in-season episodes of the series, with cameras following the Arizona Cardinals. Hard Knocks In Season is scheduled to premiere in November of 2022.
