Postgame interview
Louisville’s Hailey Van Leith celebrated Monday night when her Cardinals beat the Michigan Wolverines 62-50. She also became the first player in the school’s history to record her fourth consecutive 20-point game in the tournament.
With the competition settled and emotions running high, Van Leith spoke with ESPN’s Christie Winters-Scott after the game.
“I just want to win, man,” Van Lith said. “I will do anything to win. At first they were refusing to touch me in the first half. But I was not going to stop because I knew my time was coming.”
The conversation shifted to the Louisville star’s relationship with the late Kobe and Gianna Bryant as Winters-Scott asked Van Lith, “What do you think he would say to you in this moment?” His response was an all-timer.
“He’ll say ‘Go f***ing win this sh*t heli!’ That’s what he’ll say. ‘We didn’t,’ that’s what he’ll say right there.”
The sophomore guard got tired of censoring himself with F-bombs but let the “sh*t” fly over the Disney-owned ESPN airwaves. This wasn’t the first time Van Leith said “sh*t” on Monday night as she was telling her parents after the game, “I’m going to win this sh*t!”
Boyfriend
Hailey Van Lith has a boyfriend and her name is Jalen Suggs.
Lith and Suggs are the rising stars of basketball. Jalen Suggs, bowler for the Orlando Magic, is the fifth pick overall in the 2021 NBA Draft.
While Lith and Suggs keep their relationship a secret at the moment, fans may be led to believe that the 20-year-old Cardinals star may be single at the moment.
