The police did not name Greenwood but the statement about the investigation was provided after inquiries about the footballer.
“Greater Manchester Police were made aware earlier today of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence,” the force said in a statement.

Manchester United have released a statement reacting to the allegations levelled against Greenwood, who has been at the club since childhood and has come up the ranks through the United academy before making his first-team debut in 2019.
United said they are aware of the pictures doing the rounds on social media but will wait for more facts to be established before taking any action. The club also asserted that they are against the violence of any kind.
