The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Who owns
As the Packers website explains, “Green Bay Packers Inc. has been a publicly owned, non-profit corporation since August 18, 1923, when the original articles of incorporation were filed with the Wisconsin Secretary of State.” During the sale of five shares, fans have supported the team by buying shares. (Those sales occurred in 1923, 1935, 1950, 1997, and 2011.) And as the website notes, “today, 361,169 people (representing 5,009,562 shares) own the coveted franchise.”
The Conversation reports that owning stock in the Green Bay Packers is not the same as owning stock in a regular company. Sports Illustrated notes, “No lucky Green Bay fan will prosper from the team’s next Super Bowl win because the stock pays no dividends and is not tradable or marketable.” The Wall Street Journal named it America’s worst stock. Deadspin referred to its stock as a “feel-good scam.” In addition, Deadspin noted that if the team is ever sold, shareholders “will not receive a piece of the purchase price, or even get back their initial investment.” But as fans will tell you, that’s not the whole story.
Week 18
Week 18 is upon us, and it comes to a meaningless game between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions. 1 seed in the NFC while Detroit continues to play to the pride and evaluation of its young players. Even if they won’t, the Packers should rest their start in the finale.
Matt LaFleur, Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams were eliminated in the face of questions about playing in the finale. The trio addressed it right after toppling the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday night.
“Right now the mindset is going into that we’re going to play our guys and we’re going to do it like every other sport,” LaFleur said. “And I think the reason behind that is because I’m not comfortable doing what is essentially a three-week layoff for my people.”
Playoff schedule
Will the Green Bay Packers host the Los Angeles Rams for the third year in a row? Or will the Arizona Cardinals make their first trip to Green Bay since Mike McCarthy’s final game as coach in 2018?
The Green Bay Packers’ 2022 schedule is almost complete. With one week left in the regular season, the only question is who will win NFC West and tour Green Bay next season.
If the Rams (12–4) beat the visiting San Francisco 49ers (9–7), Los Angeles would be the NFC West champions. If the Rams lose and the Cardinals (11-5) defeat the guest Seattle Seahawks (6-10), Arizona will rule the West Roast.
As usual, the Packers will play against the NFC North at home and away. That’s six games. As part of the schedule rotation, they will play AFC East and NFC East. That’s eight games. As a first-place team in the NFC North, they would play first-place teams in the NFC South (Tampa Bay) and NFC West (currently the Rams). And, as part of a 17-game schedule beginning this season, they will host the AFC South Champions (Tennessee).
