1 seed in the NFC playoffs, the Packers overtook the Vikings on “Sunday Night Football”.
With their impressive 37–10 win over Minnesota (7–9), Green Bay went 13–3 and went undefeated at home (8–0) this season. The defeat removed the Vikings from playoff contention before their final game of the season.
Aaron Rodgers led the win, completing 29 of 38 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns. He did not throw any interception in the sixth game in a row. Rogers joined wide receiver Devonte Adams for 136 yards and a score.
Game
It’s not actually Aaron Rodgers vs Patrick Mahomes Thursday night, but the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs meet in the final preseason game for both teams at Arrowhead Stadium.
You won’t see Rodgers on the field, but you’ll probably catch him on the sidelines in a denim baseball cap, based on his recent fashion choice.
And while you won’t see many other starts for the Packers, it’s a big night for young players trying to build up a 53-man roster.
The game is at 7 pm. Thursday Nights and will be televised by the Packers TV Network. This means Channel 4 in Milwaukee and Channel 26 in Green Bay. Kevin Harlan will call play-by-play with former Packers fullback John Kuhn providing game analysis. The game is also being run by the NFL Network.
Prediction
Particularly disappointing was the team’s 13–10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at the end of the season, a game that, despite their fault-prone special teams’ game-changing gaffe, the Packers should have won, as the defense had won. Touchdowns were not allowed and the Packers had such a huge advantage at quarterback.
Instead, after back-to-back-to-back 13-win seasons, the Packers are now a dozen years away from their last Super Bowl title, and yet to win another, without having to make it one of the biggest wides. The would-be receiver in team history – Davante Adams, whom he traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in March, caused offensive concerns, even conceded by Lafleur and Rodgers.
“You just have to have some faith in the organization,” Rodgers says. “I’m going to put in the time to work with those guys, and we’re going to find a way in Matt’s guilt to succeed — like we always have.
