Gonzaga vs Arkansas: Prediction| Odds| 2022 picks
SAN FRANCISCO – – For 40 frenetic minutes, JD Notte, Jailyne Williams and Arkansas played a crazy, muscular style at both ends that knocked Gonzaga out of his game – and much earlier than these Zags expected from the NCAA Tournament. Notte scored 21 points despite missing 20 shots and determined, the fourth-seeded Razorbacks dashed the No. 1 overall seeded Bulldogs’ title hopes with a 74-68 victory in Sweet 16 on Thursday night.
Prediction
Gonzaga 83, Arkansas 76. Gonzaga (-520) will cost you more than five times your potential return. It’s too expensive even for the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Arkansas 9.5 (-107) has scratched and clawed to get to this point. It hasn’t played its best basketball yet, but still finds itself in the Sweet 16. The funny thing is, Gonzaga hasn’t even played his best basketball of the tournament.
It’s an interesting matchup, and I believe Hogg can keep it within single digits, as G JD Note and G Stanley Umude are one-two punches. However, the Bulldogs have plenty of depth, and will be able to get away in the last minutes at the free-throw line to move to the Elite 8.
Arkansas has redeemed overs in seven of their last eight matches, while overs in 13 of their last 18 as an underdog. The over is 5-1 in the last six neutral-site cases for the Razorbacks, too.
Gonzaga has hit overs in five of his last seven neutral-site cases, while leading 4-1 in his last five after straight wins.

While many fans lined up for Chet Holmgren and Jalen Duren to battle the lottery picks, they were instead treated as close-knockouts of the favorites of the tournament. Gonzaga left Memphis behind by 10 points as he entered the half. It was only the fourth time in the entire season that the Bulldogs were behind at halftime.
The second half, however, was a different story, as Gonzaga climbed out of the hole and took a four-point lead that he would never relinquish at midpoint for an 82–78 lead. The win sent Gonzaga into the Sweet 16 for a seventh consecutive season.
The Holmgren/Durren showdown has never lived up to the hype—like Gonzaga when it comes to winning the actual tournament—as foul trouble soon disrupted both NBA studs. Holmgren landed on nine points and nine rebounds, while Duren posted another seven.
The Zags entered a Sweet 16 showdown with Arkansas, where the Bulldogs have a 4-2 record in advancing to the Elite Eight over the past six seasons.
Arkansas earned its ticket to Sweet 16 by taking down the New Mexico State exits. Despite being dismissed in the second half, Arkansas took the lead in the first half to give themselves some buffer room in their 53-48 win.
J.D. Notte led the way for the Razorbacks with 18 points and eight steals (!), and Jaylin Williams achieved a double-double with 10 and 15. But it was Audi’s Tony who made the move for Arkansas, catching Aggies Teddy Allen on a 5-of-16 shoot with just 12 points in check.
While Arkansas lost the Battle of the Boards, it came in with a 3:1 steal ratio compared to the state of New Mexico and won the Battle of Turnovers, 17 to 11. With the win, the Razorbacks head for their second straight Sweet 16 appearance.
2022 picks
Gonzaga continues his run as favorite to win the March Madness tournament, but will face an Arkansas Razorbacks team that will force tempo and attempt to score lots of points in the paint. Luckily for Gonzaga, Arkansas sports a brand of basketball that they are well matched for.
On Saturday, Gonzaga had a scare against the Memphis Tigers, which proved quite difficult to deal with. After 10 points down the half, Gonzaga forward Drew Timme gave an expected-less halftime speech to refocus the team. After the comeback win, Timme detailed the speech that saved the season.
