It debuted in 2005 on the PlayStation 2 (PS2) video game console and has since grown to include ten games on various platforms, with an additional game currently under development. It has become a flagship title for the PlayStation brand.
The plot, which is based on historical events, centres on Kratos, a Spartan warrior who eventually became the God of War after being duped by his old boss, Ares, the original Greek God of war, into murdering his family.

Ragnarok state of play
In the past year, however, it has finally begun to open up God of War Ragnarok in some significant ways, and today’s State of Play event unveiled a new teaser that has revealed considerably more about its universe and the legendary challenges Kratos and his son will encounter in it.
The new video is jam-packed with amazing action scenes of Dad of Battle and his uncannily Aaron Paul-like adolescent son, Atreus, fighting off harpies, gazing out at enormous floating jellyfish, and freeing Tyr, the Norse god of war, from captivity.
However, because this is a new instalment in the God of War series, the trailer didn’t hold back on showing characters calling Kratos a fake god, declaring that no one worshipped him, and characterising him as a blood-sipping idiot.
Kratos doesn’t seem to be bothered by his public shaming, but the trailer does imply that Atreus is keeping something from his dear old dad. The two argue, and Kratos ends up saying that he doesn’t need anyone to protect him.
Ragnarok odin
While playing as Kratos, The Ghost of Sparta, in the God of War series, players have had their fair share of formidable foes to completely destroy.
Kratos’ father Zeus, who together with the other gods initially led Kratos onto his road of devastation and death, has had a greater influence on his life than any of these foes.
Kratos has already left Greece and is now living in Midgard, where a new threat has emerged in the form of Odin from God of War Ragnarok, having finally vanquished his father.
Odin has been a mystery for a while, but a recent leak might have revealed the character’s inclusion in the forthcoming game.
The God of War franchise has advanced.
