David Jaffe at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio created the God of War action-adventure game franchise.
It debuted in 2005 on the PlayStation (PS2) video game console and has since become flagship title for the PlayStation brand, with ten games released across multiple platforms and an eleventh in the works.
Based on Greek mythology, the story follows Kratos, Spartan warrior and later God of War, who was duped into killing his family by his former master, Ares, the original Greek God of war.
This sets in motion chain of events that culminates in wars with the pantheons.
Due to the machinations of the Olympian Gods, Kratos follows path of vengeance during the Greek era of the series.

It’s been a while since Sony teased the next chapter in Kratos’ story. Earlier this year, a first look at God of War: Ragnarok revealed a father and son on the hunt for Tyr, the Norse mythology’s God of War. They appear to have found him in the new trailer released during the September State of Play event, as he questions their motives, their quest, and what they even know about so-called Godhood.

It’s a trailer that teases a complex story in which Kratos appears to be following his son’s lead this time. Together, they will decide whether they are bound by fate and prophecy, or if they can shape their own fate — all while marching through a parade of stunning visuals and fast-paced combat.

Today has been a day full of pleasant, video game-themed surprises. To cap off a neat but unremarkable State of Play, Sony released the God of War Ragnarok story trailer.

Ragnarok sees the return of Kratos and Atreus, who appear to fend off (or perhaps initiate) the arrival of Ragnarok, the Norse mythological end of the world. As they beat the shit out of every living creature in their path, the father-son odd couple appears to make new friends and enemies.

The trailer mentions fate, and Kratos imparts his hard-learned lessons on what it means to defy the fate fate has laid out at their feet. And, like Atreus

Before Ragnarök arrives, Kratos and Atreus embark on a mythic journey in search of answers and allies.

The sequel to the critically acclaimed God of War comes from Santa Monica Studio (2018). As they prepare for the prophesied battle that will end the world, Kratos and Atreus must travel to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers.

As Asgardian forces prepare for war, Kratos and Atreus journey deep into the Nine Realms in search of answers. Along the way, they will encounter fearsome enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters, as well as stunning, mythical landscapes.

As the threat of Ragnarök approaches, Kratos and Atreus must choose between their family’s safety and their own.
