Record
Glover Teixeira is a 42-year-old MMA fighter and is currently the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. The Brazilian has a professional MMA record of 33-7 and a UFC record of 16-5.
Teixeira made his UFC debut in 2012 against Kyle Kingsbury at UFC 146: Dos Santos vs. However, the 42-year-old had to wait till 2021 to finally win the UFC title. He defeated Jan Balachowicz via submission in Round Two to secure the Light Heavyweight Crown.
As of January 2022, Glover Teixeira has a net worth of $8,000,000 (Source: Surprise Sports). This comes from his earnings in UFC, sponsorships and investments in his personal life.
However, life was not always easy for the UFC champion, who had to wait almost 10 years to win the UFC title. Teixeira grew up in a rural town in Sobralia, Brazil. Many houses had little facilities, some had no electricity.
Young
Glover Teixeira has the spirit of a warrior that is almost impossible to conquer. Armed with a fire-crafted work ethic and a knack for overcoming adversity, you’ll fight hard to stop the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.
MMA’s explosion in popularity is starting to produce child prodigies and young UFC superstars. 42-year-old Teixeira was no such case. His journey from UFC debutante to champion spanned almost a decade. His campaign in the UFC and combat sports as a whole was filled with its own challenges.
“I came here illegally through the Mexico border… it’s scary,” Teixeira told “Morning Kombat” ahead of UFC 275. “Nobody gets a visa. It’s a dream. Children of those times used to come here. Mexico, earn a living, go back and earn some money. From a house, a car, some of them come back again.” Because it’s an illusion. You make this money and then you don’t know what to do with it. But that’s my point. I wanted to move to the United States when I was 18- or 19. I’m with some people jumped into this trip and we went over Colombia, all these countries and then we crossed the border through mexico.
Wife
Glover Teixeira’s wife name is Ingrid. Glover Teixeira met his wife, Ingrid Peterson, when he moved to Connecticut to support their family in 1999. Glover met him at a gym when he started training. They immediately ignite a relationship, and like the wise men say ‘if you know then you know’. The pair got married in 2001 after 2 years of dating.
The relationship had its ups and downs that would come later, but they stood firm by each other. Teixeira had moved to the US illegally, the UFC bought out the WEC – a part of Teixeira’s promotion at the time, visa rules and regulations were tightened (after the 9/11 attacks).
Net Worth
Teixeira has a net worth of US$8 million as of 2022. The site notes that this number is based on his main source of income as a mixed martial artist, with his earnings, as of writing, reportedly amounting to US$2,725,000.
