The birth of Giancarlo Cruz-Michael “Mike” Stanton came on the calendar during the fifth of November, in 1989. Stanton is the son of an Irish father and an African-American mother. One of Stanton’s maternal ancestors, his great-great-great-grandmother was born in Puerto Rico. Stanton’s father and mother known as Mike Stanton and Jacinta Gary respectively separated when Stanton was still eight years old.

Nationality

As reported, one of Giancarlo’s stepparents, Mike Stanton, holds American citizenship as well. He does however identify as Irish American.

Face

After more than two weeks of dry spell, the Milwaukee Brewers were able to win two consecutive games.

However, the only thing on everyone’s lips was the beaning of the Marlins’ Giancarlo Stanton, who was placed on a medical bed after taking a fastball from Mike Fiers.

Stanton suffered some severe blows as he sustained several fractures, as well as received minor cuts requiring sutures as seen in their fight with Milwaukee which resulted in a loss of 4-2 against the latter.

Marlins head coach Mike Redmond stated with displeasure that Stanton, who leads the majors in runs batted in and a decided contender for the National League MVP, was most probably injured for the rest of the season.

Name change

As it seems, Stanton adopted the name Mike in middle school already, which is the point when the need to pronounce ‘Giancarlo’ properly ceased to be meaningful. In his years, however, he used to be addressed by both names, so explaining his choice to the Marlins and the press was more or less a spent effort.
