Gerald Washington (born 23 April 1982) is an American professional boxer who is quite accomplished. As a heavyweight boxer, he fought for the WBC heavyweight title for the first time in his career in 2017.
Washington was born to an African American father and Mexican American mother, and spent part of his childhood in Mexico. When he was young, Washington engaged in tennis and participated in a single season of high school football. Washington then joined the United States Navy where he worked as a helicopter mechanic. Although he had a single-year experience with regular football, he proceeded to Chaffey College located at Rancho Cucamonga in California, where he was awarded an NJCAA All-American title as a tight end. Washington switched to USC as a junior but injured his ankle and was unable to play in many games.
