Honey quickly succumbed to the pressure of Combosos and kept calm when his opponent threw a headlock at him in the opening round. However, it didn’t take Honey long to find his limit. He started tagging the combos and by the end of the fight left his opponent in a pool of blood and stumbling.

With the win, Haney defended his undisputed lightweight title.

The only reason this fight happened is because the Combosos lost their WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and The Ring Lightweight titles in the first fight, triggering a rematch clause. After suffering so much loss and one-off losses, you have to wonder if it was worth it to him.

Despite the effort to lose to the Combosos, the crowd never lost their voice at Rod Laver Arena. They roared for their hero as he leveled the allegation against Honey. However, he may not have noticed how much he was being repulsed in the process until the blood started flowing.

George Kamboss Jr. had a plan to try and obstruct Devin Haney, but it wasn’t enough, as the American put on a masterclass to solidify his reign as the undisputed king of the lightweight division.

The Australian put up a fight and did well to stand by the end of round 12, but Haney’s class shone, winning a unanimous decision (119–109, 118–110, 118–110).

The American is now up for a big fight with two-time Olympic champion Vasily Lomachenko.

Combosos Jr. started with a lot of aggression in the first round, although he was changing his stance in the opening strategy, which boxing legend Jeff Fenech called “weird”.

“We expected aggression, I don’t think we expected him to dominate with the southpaw,” Ben Damon said.

“It’s controlled aggression in this early stage.”

Combosos Jr. ended the round by supporting Haney to the ropes, completing that aggressive approach in the first round, the opening fight between the two.

“A great finish for the round by George Kambosos,” Fenech said.

Haney, however, responded by landing a big right hand in the second round, with Fenech predicting that a knockout would end the fight, regardless of who was victorious.
