Date
According to Callum Davis for the Telegraph, Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has taken a fan on a date to an NBA match after she lost her Super Bowl bet on Twitter.
The world number 44 tweeted a photo of himself with student John Gohrke, who chanted his hand after Bouchard supported the Atlanta Falcons to defeat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl:
Goharke tweeted the Canadian, “If the Patriots win we go on a date?” After Bouchard reposed his faith in Atlanta, who had taken a 21-3 half-time lead when he tweeted the opening. The tennis player gave a “certain” answer to Gohrke’s bet, and then followed up with the final whistle:
Rumors of a date grew on social media, and Bouchard believed he had little choice but to honor the bet after the Patriots came back to win Super Bowl 34–28.
On Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard (via Davis), she said, “After all the media attention, it was something I could do, at first, not hold back. There was no chance.”
“I was intrigued, though, as soon as I lost the bet, I looked at his Twitter profile and his profile picture was a picture of Tiger Woods. I was like, ‘This is one of those Twitter fans. I don’t even know What does that look like? What’s going to happen?’ But it turns out he’s a very nice guy.”
Twitter boyfriend
Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has revealed the “tragic” outcome of her infamous date with Twitter fan John Gohrke.
The 26-year-old took Goharke on a date after he won a Twitter bet with her over the result of the 2017 NFL finale.
To the delight of millions, Bouchard and Goharke then went on several dates, including an NBA game in New York and the 2018 NFL Super Bowl.
Unfortunately it all unraveled from there according to Bouchard, who said the pair’s public dating has come back to cripple them both.
“That infamous moment in my life I tweeted when I shouldn’t have turned into this whole thing,” Bouchard told Tennis.com.
“I keep in touch with him casually. Sometimes he plays hard to get and I’m like, ‘Brother, we’re friends, text me back, it’s okay’.
Date story
Eugenie Bouchard has opened up about the repercussions of her very public affair with John Goharke, saying that all of her girlfriends hate her.
Bouchard and Goharke went viral in 2017 when he found himself dating the tennis star via a cheeky bet on Twitter.
Bouchard was so sure the Atlanta Falcons would win Super Bowl 51 that he agreed to go on a date with random Twitter follower Gohrke if the New England Patriots returned.
Low and behold, the Patriots came back from a 28-3 deficit to shock the Falcons – and Bouchard stuck to his word.
Goharke became known as ‘the luckiest man on the planet’ when Bouchard took him on a date at an NBA game, before reuniting several times and sharing a brief romance.
The ugly fallout from the infamous Bouchard date
Although Bouchard has now opened up about their broken relationship, how their love “ruined their dating life.”
“That infamous moment in my life when I tweeted was when I shouldn’t have turned into this whole thing,” Bouchard said in an interview with Tennis.com.
“I keep in touch with him casually. Sometimes he plays hard to get and I’m like, ‘Brother, we’re friends, text me back, it’s okay’.
“We’ve hung out several times. I think he has a girlfriend now, probably because he doesn’t text me back.
Tennis ranking
Before the start of WTA Guadalajara, Bouchard was in 144th place. But with the final in Mexico, she would move to 116th place if she lost the final. If she wins the final, she will jump to 102. Bouchard now has 533 points and has a chance to win 180 points if he loses in the final and 280 points if he wins the final.
Eugenie Bouchard’s title dry since 2014
It is surprising to know that Bouchard has won only one title in his career. Since his success in 2014, Bouchard has reached five finals, losing them all. Between 2016 and 2020, she had a drought where she did not reach a single final.
