Wilson is considered by many to be the top wide receiver in this year’s NFL Draft class. He has the ability to beat defenders deep, take highlight-reel catches and convert short-yardage catches into big-time plays.

Last season, Wilson was one of only 5 B1G receivers to go over the 1,000-yard mark. He made a total of 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns for 70 catches. His most impressive stretch came in the last 3 games of the regular season, when he scored a total of over 100 yards and made at least 1 touchdown in each contest:

vs. Purdue: 10 catches, 126 yards, 3 touchdowns

vs. Michigan State: 7 catches, 126 yards, 2 touchdowns
In Michigan: 10 catches, 119 yards, 1 touchdown

When it comes to ‘clean’ profiles, Wilson ticks the box. He was a five-star recruit right out of high school, played college ball in a major event, built there (19 starts, 143 receptions, 2,213 yards and 23 touchdowns), and impressed in the pre-draft process.

On the field, he draws comparisons to Stephen Diggs with his route-running prowess and explosive athleticism (he ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash in a scouting combination to prove his speed). It competes hard, and offers versatility, being played extensively both in slots and outdoors. Wilson could be a top-10 pick.

Draft profile

Very good athlete who can miss many defenders in tight spaces due to his balance and lateral speed.

Ā Has very good bursts and long speed and one can catch or cover distance. Dangerous when thrown up and down the screen.

Capable of making consecutive yards after the catch.

Nice overall hand.

Good catching range and is comfortable propelling balls away from his body. There is balance to turn for the throw and keep the momentum going.

Injury

His teammates were locked in a tough fight with Nebraska last weekend, while his teammates were sidelined with symptoms, Ohio State Junior wide receiver Garrett Wilson had to turn away from his television.

“I didn’t really get to watch the game for a bit,” Wilson said. “I just didn’t feel well and I was stressing myself out too much. It’s something I’ll never want to do again.”

The Buckeyes won the game against the Cornhuskers, but the fact that Wilson was unable to contribute upset them. So, it should come as no surprise that he felt his impact in a 59-31 victory over Purdue on Saturday, when he caught 10 passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns and scored another 51 yards for his own game. Took care alone.

After the game, Wilson said, “To be honest, I just came here and did what I love.” ā€œI missed it last week, being able to be there with my brothers. To be able to come back and play as we did and the game I did is definitely nice.ā€
