Growing up in Brandon, Mississippi, Minshaw grew up playing an air raid offense style of football under Will’s father, Wyatt Rogers. He became a freshman in 2011 as the starting quarterback of Brandon High School, when his varsity team starter broke his arm in a game, and he defeated the Brandon Bulldogs in two Mississippi High School Activities Association championship games and one. Proceeded to win. He committed to Troy University, but left before playing college football for them and instead spent a year at Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he took the Rangers to the NJCAA National Football Championship. From there, Minshoo spent two seasons in East Carolina. When he graduated, he still had one year of NCAA Division I eligibility, and after the death of Tyler Hilinsky enrolled at Washington State University as a graduate student to play for the Cougars. There, he set a Pac-12 Conference single-season record for passing yards, led the Cougars to the Alamo Bowl Championship, and received the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

The 2019 sixth-round draft pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars from Washington State became a household name during the 2019 season when he took the starting role due to injury to Nick Foles. Minshaw led Jacksonville to a 6–6 record and had an impressive rookie season until it ended. During Minshaw’s time as starting quarterback for the Jaguars, his swag, mullet and “jorts” were an instant hit among fans. In the 2020 season, Minshu remained the Jaguars’ starter until a one-off injury sidelined him for seven weeks. He returned to the field in Week 14 – throwing for 178 yards and a touchdown – after losing 31-10 to the Tennessee Titans to Mike Glennon. In Week 15, Minshu reprized his initial role before losing the job to Glennon the following week. Then, in August, Minshaw’s journey began a new chapter when he was traded to the Eagles. His latest time to shine came on Sunday when Jalen Harts was sidelined due to injury. In his debut as an Eagle, Minshaw scored 25 of 20 for 242 yards and two touchdowns as the Philadelphia beat the New York Jets 33–18. His 133.7 passer rating was the highest for an Eagles starter since Foles (141.4) in the 2017 NFC Championship Game.
