Born in 1878 to a Kashmir Muslim family in the village of Jabbowal in the Amritsar district of the Punjab province of British India, Baksh was awarded an edition of the World Heavyweight Championship on 15 October 1910. After the partition of British India in August 1947, into the Dominion of India and the Dominion of Pakistan, Gama chose Pakistan, where she died on May 23, 1960, in Lahore.
