It was always going to be an emotional retreat at Trust Park for the Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman. He spent 15 years in the Braves’ organization, going from high potential to National League MVP and eventual World Series champion.

Freeman moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles last winter, but his heart is still with the Braves. Freeman was clearly shaken at a press conference ahead of the Dodgers’ weekend series in Atlanta.

“I’ve always told you guys how much I love the Braves and this city,” Freeman told reporters. “I don’t even know how I’m going this weekend, to be honest.”

And once Freeman was on the field, a flood of emotions poured in. The five-time All-Star was presented with his World Series ring before the game and was greeted with a standing ovation. A tearful Freeman said after the game that he was touched by the gesture.
