Tory

Frank Lampard has announced that he is a Tory and that he would like David Cameron to win the next election. Why does this frustrate me so much?

Warning: The article below contains views of a political nature. If you’re offended by these thoughts, I don’t care: I’m right, you’re wrong, it’s best to move on from this site for fear of being crushed by my intellectual superiority and the overwhelming power of my arguments. Also, it was Super Frankie Lampard who started it, bringing together football and politics.

In a paper by the Daily Mail, Frank Lampard gleefully reported that a Tory friend of mine also called ‘a repellent rag’, Frank Lampard, after meeting with Conservative Party leader David Cameron, declared that “I’ve actually met David.” I had a good conversation. As a footballer I don’t want to get involved in campaigning, but I’m a Tory and I really like David Cameron. Apparently Frank met Mr. Cameron earlier this year But waited to publicly declare his support. Now the cat is out of the bag, Frank.

Football and politics are uncomfortable beds in England. For every football player who has declared their allegiance, there are some who have remained silent about their opinion, possibly for fear of alienating any supporters who vote the other way. Perhaps many more people have said nothing because they have nothing to say.

Lampard was born in Romford, London. He attended Brentwood School between 1989 and 1994, finishing with eleven GCSEs, including an A* in Latin.

Lampard belongs to a family of footballers; His father is Frank Lampard, Sr., a former West Ham United player and assistant manager who was still with the club when Lampard Jr. was playing for him. Lampard’s uncle is Harry Redknapp and his cousin is Redknapp’s son Jamie Redknapp. His mother, Pat, a librarian, died of pneumonia in April 2008 at the age of 58.

In 2000, Lampard, Rio Ferdinand and Kieron Dyer appeared in a sex video that was filmed at the holiday resort of Ayia Napa in Cyprus. Channel 4 aired a brief clip as part of their 2004 documentary Sex, Footballers and Videotapes, claiming it was used to “remind viewers that it is based on real life.” On 23 September 2001, Lampard, along with three other Chelsea players were fined two weeks’ salary by the club for their behavior while drinking on 12 September. Lampard and others abused American tourists at the Heathrow Hotel just 24 hours after the September 11 attacks. One hotel manager said: “They were absolutely disgusting. They didn’t care what happened”.
