Ngannou was born and raised in the village of Batié, Cameroon. He lived in poverty and had little formal education growing up. Ngannou’s parents divorced when he was six years old, and he was sent to live with his aunt. At 10 years old, Ngannou started working in a sand quarry in Batié because of a lack of funds. As a youngster, he was approached by several gangs in his village to join them. However, Ngannou refused and instead decided to use his father’s negative reputation as a street fighter as motivation to do something positive and pursue boxing.

Who is fighting next

Ngannou vs Derrick Lewis looked a sure thing for a while but UFC 265 opted for a clash between ‘The Black Beast’ and Ciryl Gane instead.

Gane won via TKO to claim the interim belt but many were left confused as to why Ngannou was not involved. Ngannou became the outright UFC heavyweight champion at UFC 260 when he destroyed Stipe Miocic.

He was set to fight against at UFC 265 but struggles in securing a date saw him sidelined with Dana White putting on a interim title clash instead. Ngannou is set to return to face current interim 265-pound titleholder Ciryl Gane at UFC 270.

Net Worth

Francis Ngannou’s net worth is estimated to be $4 million. Coming from a humble background Ngannou has never openly mentioned his financial dreams in any interview. However, the heavyweight did weigh in on the negotiation complications between UFC and Jon Jones and gave a hint of his aspirations.
