Florida State vs Georgia Tech prediction: Athlon| Week 1

Florida State football and Georgia Tech are set to head to Ireland. The two teams will compete in a Week Zero game in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic.

Some might say the Seminoles are on a revenge tour after being eliminated in the College Football Playoff after going undefeated in the regular season last year. The wounds may be gone, but the scars still remain.

FSU may have lost 14 starters, but the Seminoles were once again involved in the transfer portal, adding pieces like quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, wide receiver Malik Benson, running backs Roydell Williams and Jaylin Lucas, defensive lineman Marvin Jones Jr. and linebacker Cam Riley.

Florida State vs Georgia Tech prediction: Athlon| Week 1

It’s finally the time when we make game-by-game predictions as the season is now less than a week away.

The Florida State Seminoles will take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the famous College Football Week 0 on August 24 in Dublin, Ireland.

It’s not every year that a team gets the chance to start the season with a conference opponent like Georgia Tech vs. Florida State. If Florida State loses this game it could determine a lot for the ACC standings in the conference championship season.

Obviously, a lot of people don’t have great opinions on this game and it’s not even mine because the Florida State Seminoles won this game in a big way. This defense is very good and will give the Seminoles plenty of chances to score.

I believe this game will end with a score of 28-3 in favor of the Seminoles. The reason for this is that I think this offense will make some mistakes because in Weeks 0/1 this is something you can expect. This Georgia Tech team is better than usual but not good enough to beat the Seminoles.

Week 1

The 2024 college soccer season gets underway in a big way with a top-10 team on Saturday, as No. 10 Florida State takes on Georgia Tech in the Aer Lingus Classic in Dublin, Ireland. The conference showdown also kicks off an unprecedented year of ACC soccer after the league expanded to 17 full-time members with the addition of Cal, Stanford and SMU over the summer.

So, in a year of change, it’s fitting that the reigning ACC champions begin their quest for another conference crown in a most unique setting. Ireland has hosted games at Aviva Stadium, the home field of the Ireland national teams in both rugby and soccer the past two seasons and has future dates set for 2025 and 2027. It’s a unique experience in itself for players, coaches and fans, but has come with some costs in terms of an accelerated fall camp schedule to accommodate travel.

While the pomp and circumstance of college football overseas will be plenty great, at the center of this matchup are two teams hoping to build on last season’s success. Florida State has its eyes on another ACC title and with it a berth in the College Football Playoff after last year’s loss. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech has completed a stunning comeback from a team that finished fourth in the ACC standings to reach a bowl game for the first time since 2018. Any of their goals are still attainable with a win on Saturday, which brings the midseason urgency of this early-season showdown.
