San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. said a move to center field is “not out of the question,” according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

“I like to win ballgames,” Tatis said. “If it means we’re going to win more ballgames like this, I’ll do it that way.”

The All-Star also said that he is moving the balls in the outfield.

Tatis has missed the entire 2022 season while recovering from a broken wrist, and the All-Star is not expected to return until after the break. Ha-seong Kim has done a great job at shortstop, which could push Tatis into the outfield.

Although he has primarily played shortstop in his professional career, Tatis made seven appearances at center field and 20 at right field last season.
