Qualifying results
Formula 1 returns to the United States for the first time in two years having last raced at the Circuit of the Americas in 2019.
Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton topped Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen with the fastest time to qualify for the Turkish Grand Prix.
Although Hamilton’s time of 1:22.868 was enough to claim P1, he would start Sunday’s race 10 places down due to an engine-related grid penalty. That is, Bottas will start from the pole.
Verstappen finished with the third fastest time, while Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly rounded out the top five spots.

The second leg ended and Sebastian Vettel, Esteban Ocon, George Russell, Mick Schumacher, and Carlos Sainz, Jr. were all eliminated and slotted 11–15 in the starting grid. Lewis Hamilton once again had the fastest time and put some distance between himself and number 2 Valtteri Bottas to advance to the final stage of qualifying.
Stage 1 qualifying result date: The first stage is a wrap and Daniel Ricciardo, Nicolas Latifi, Antonio Giovinazzi, Kimi Raikkonen and Nikita Mazepin were eliminated. Lewis Hamilton had the fastest time around the track, beating Max Verstappen by .007 seconds in the first leg of qualifying.

The Mexican took the lead during FP2 on Friday and continued his strong form at the Circuit of the Americas, setting a time of 1:34.701 on softs, 0.104 seconds faster than Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz.
Championship leader Max Verstappen ended the season just 0.211 seconds behind his teammate, after switching to a new set of softs near the end of the season.
Verstappen’s first lap on fresh rubber was enough to go up, although his time was dropped after exceeding the track limit at Turn 19.
Lando Norris and Valtteri Bottas rounded out the top five, while Lewis Hamilton recorded the sixth-fastest time in the session after a quick lap, which was also scrapped for a track boundary violation.

Verstappen won the US GP and extended the title lead over Hamilton to 12 points. Hamilton closed on Verstappen in the closing stages on fresh tyres but kept hanging on to Max. Hamilton took the lead early in the race before a Verstappen undercut. Perez shines for third, Leclerc Ferrari. Bottas comes in to take the sixth. Ricciardo and Sainz make contact in the fight for fifth. Gasly and Ocon retired with mechanical issues

“I think we gave it everything we had and they were faster than us this weekend, for whatever reason,” says Lewis Hamilton at Penn. “It looked like they had a better rear end, slipping a little less than us. I had a good start – I gave it my all today, unfortunately I couldn’t convert it at the end.
“I thought for a second that we might be able to win the race but we have to wait until the next one.”
