Wife
In November 2015, Malkin got engaged to Russian television personality Anna Kasterova. Six months later, on 31 May 2016, their first child, a son, was born. [7]
In November 2017, Malkin announced membership of the PutinTeam social movement, started by compatriot and fellow NHLer Alexander Ovechkin in support of Russian President Vladimir Putin during the 2018 Russian presidential election. “We just try to give our support because in 2018 we have the World Cup in Russia, they have elections too,” Malkin said.
War
Evgeny Malkin has not spoken to the media since Russian dictator Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, an independent democracy. Several years ago, fellow Russian player Alex Ovechkin started TeamPutin, a social media campaign, and recently backed down on his generous support for peace. Malkin was also part of the 2017 Putin push, but the Pittsburgh Penguin Center neither strongly endorsed nor added his name to its promotion.
Due to the unstable political climate and previous Russian retaliation against athletes, including Artemi Panarin, who criticized Putin, Malkin has remained calm since the invasion.
Officially, PHN will print a Malkin statement, but understands the potentially dangerous situation and its reasons for not addressing the matter publicly.
