18-year-old Emma Radukanu became the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam singles title by defeating 19-year-old Leyla Fernandez in the women’s singles final 6-4, 6-3 at the US Open on Saturday. Radukanu also became the first British woman in 44 years to win a Grand Slam title.
