Elisha Nelson Manning (born January 3, 1981) is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 16 seasons with the New York Giants. A member of the Manning football dynasty, he is the youngest son of quarterback Archie Manning and the younger brother of quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning played college football at Ole Miss, where he won the Maxwell and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Awards as a senior. Eli Manning’s joke about Russell Wilson’s contract during Monday’s Manningcast caught the internet’s attention but he says it wasn’t a shot at the new Broncos quarterback.
During the broadcast of the game between the Giants and the Cowboys, the two offenses clashed when a punt Manning, after taking a shot at Wilson, said, “He should have paid $235 million instead of Russell.” Wilson signed a five-year extension worth $245 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, but struggled in his first three games with Denver.
Manning said the pinch was less about Wilson and more about the punter.

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson fired back at Eli Manning for his joke earlier this week.
During the manningcast of the Monday Night football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants, Alley quipped that the Broncos should have paid punter Corliss Weightman $250 million after he punts the ball 10 times in Sunday’s 11-10 win. After that Wilson was paid. San Francisco 49ers.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Wilson was asked about Manning’s comments and responded by referring to Manning’s viral character, “I’m 3-0 against Chad Powers.”
Manning made it clear to Front Office Sports’ Michael McCarthy that he did not intend to target Wilson, but merely attempted to be funny.
“No, I don’t think we’re trying to be critical. I think we always try to support people who are into sports. I sometimes think, ‘Hey, it’s live TV .’ I never tried to take a real shot at anyone,” he explained. “I think it was obviously a very outrageous joke—because a punter had 10 punts. Nothing against Russell. He’s going to do great.”
