The Edmonton Oilers are a professional ice hockey team based in Edmonton. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference, and play their home games at Rogers Place, which opened in 2016.[4][5] Dave Tippett has served as the head coach for the Oilers since the 2019–20 season, and Ken Holland was named as the general manager on May 7, 2019. The Oilers are one of two NHL franchises based in Alberta, the other being the Calgary Flames; their close proximity to each other has led to a fierce rivalry known as the “Battle of Alberta”.

The Oilers are playing very well so far in this young season, but their success does not come without battling some adversity. The Oilers were hit with a plethora of injuries to many of their blueliners which has caused several inexperienced defensemen to be thrust into more prominent roles. The team is without significant players including Duncan Keith, Slater Koekkoek, Cody Ceci, on the backend, while Nurse made his return against the Los Angeles Kings on Dec. 5 after missing a few weeks to a finger injury.

That’s three different goalies on the move, pretty much everyone except Mikko Koskinen , the man we speculated might be in jeopardy in this post yesterday. Not for now, at least. Instead, management followed the more conventional course of action as stated here:

The conventional move would be to keep the two veterans and return Skinner to Bakersfield. What they can’t do, is place the younger man on the taxi squad. Whereas they could place either remaining farm club netminder, Ilya Konovalov or Olivier Rodrigue , on the TS for the simple reason that neither has been on the NHL roster to this point. Seems odd, doesn’t it?
Which is in fact what has happened. Stuart Skinner is inligible for the taxi squad [see: UPDATE below] so has been returned to Bakersfield, while Ilya Konovalov and his 0 NHL GP has been promoted (if that’s even the correct term) to the taxi squad. Konovalov, a veteran of 3 seasons in the KHL, has produced middling numbers (3-3-2, 2.48, .900) in Bako as he adapts to the North American game, but has been strong in December with 1-1-1 , 1.47, .946 in four recent appearances.

The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) online 50/50 raffle is back for the 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers season and will run during all home and away games. There are also new enhancements to the online 50/50 program that will give Albertans more chances to win big.

For the 2021-22 season, the EOCF is excited to announce the addition of progressive jackpots for select games. During progressive jackpots, the raffle will run on multiple Oilers game days and the jackpot will accumulate until the final day of the raffle, creating the opportunity for mega-jackpots.

The first EOCF 50/50 progressive jackpot will include all Oilers pre-season games, opening at 9am MT on Sunday, September 26 and closing at 11pm MT on Saturday, October 9.
