Weigh in
Abani Bridges offers Eddie Hearn a pair of sunglasses while taking off his lingerie at the weigh-in for his fight with Maria Cecilia Roman.
Bridges has formed form to take off his kit and embarrass Hearn at pre-fight weigh-ins, especially doing so the first two times. And she came up with a hat-trick ahead of her fight against an Argentine rival this weekend – although this time she tried to save Hearn’s blush.
Walking the stage in a hot pink tracksuit, Bridges quickly transformed into her skimpy lingerie, which fighting fans got to know and love. But as soon as she went on the scales, the Australian bombshell made a way for the Matchbox promoter to hand her a pair of sunglasses so she didn’t have to turn her gaze as awkwardly as before.
After giving Hearn her surprise gift, Bridges turned to the camera and put a smile on her face. Hearn accepted the incense, but quickly put them in his pocket as his fighter tipped him over the scales.
As Bridges checked his weight, Hearn once again made sure to look away from the less-worn boxer. She then posed between the 35-year-old and her rival Roman, who is the IBF Women’s Bantamweight Champion.
Bridges has divided opinion with her pre-fight clothing choices and her antics away from the boxing ring. But her openness and fun-loving nature has also won her fans throngs, especially in Leeds, her adopted home city.
Fight
Ebani Bridges won the world title on the second attempt – and then attacked those who doubted her.
The Aussie has been a figure of fun at times throughout her boxing career, wearing the skimpy outfits commonly seen on fans-only pages.
But she set herself at the highest level by defeating long-time reigning bantamweight champion Maria Cecilia Roman in Leeds on Saturday night.
And she took the opportunity to boast: “I’d like to say, ‘Can I ***** fight or not?’ F*** You guys who think I can’t fight. I can fight. I can box, I can fight, and I look hot on the scales. has been proved wrong.”

And she continued: “I feel proud of myself, and I feel so happy because it means everything I’ve sacrificed and all the work I’ve done is worth it. This belt is the epitome of everything.” represents; all the heartbreak, the sacrifice and all the training so I’m happy. She was a tough champion and she brought it up, it meant I could do what I love to do.

Highlights
With another busy Saturday in the books for boxing, it’s time to look back at all the action in the ring. The day saw two world titles change, one emerging prospect facing real adversity and one facing surprising trouble.
The day started for boxing fans with Josh Warrington in England with Kiko Martinez. Once the UK action took place, the focus was on the cards anchored by Tim Tzieu vs Terrell Gausha in Minneapolis and Jeremiah Nakatilla vs Miguel Burchelt in Las Vegas. It was enough action to keep boxing fans busy for almost the entire day.
Let’s take a look at all the actions that turned out to be another wild day in the world of pugilism.
Josh Warrington defeated Keiko Martinez to win the featherweight belt
Coming into his first defense of the IBF featherweight title, Kiko Martinez knew he would face not only Josh Warrington, but a wildly pro Warrington crowd for a DAZN-streamed card in Leeds, England. However, what he didn’t expect was Warrington coming out with a completely heavy attack in the first round. From the jump, Warrington was a whirlwind of punches, along with liberal use of his shoulders and head. In the first round, a head-on collision opened a cut above Martinez’s eye. Martinez was clearly upset and complained to the referee, who told him to keep fighting but moments later, Warrington dropped Martinez on the canvas with his right hand. Martinez never gave up trying to get back into the fight, but Warrington was very determined and was able to secure a stoppage in the seventh round.
