Ottawa Senators Forward Drake Batherson Will Miss “Two Months” With a High Ankle Sprain, Senators Coach D.J. Smith said on Thursday. Batherson will miss the upcoming All-Star Game in Las Vegas.

Tuesday’s win over the Buffalo Sabers abandoned after taking a hit from Sabers goaltender Aaron Dale in the first period. Senator forward Dylan Gambrel was also out of the dressing room after suffering an upper body injury in the first period. Smith confirmed that he would be out for a week.

Batherson, 23, leads the Senators this season with 34 points from 31 matches. Gambrel has one goal and two assists in 25 games.

Batherson was the last of 10 players to drop out of COVID protocols, which forced the NHL to postpone three Senators’ games between November 16 and November 20.

Batherson had two goals and two assists for the Senators in their win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, before being put into COVID-19 protocol on November 14. In 14 games this season, the 23-year-old has scored seven goals and 16 points.

“Batherson should not and should not expect Dale to examine the shoulder in this situation, as Batherson swiftly heads to the boards,” DoPS said.

Batherson is believed to have suffered a high ankle sprain during the play, and is expected to be out for a long time. Ottawa’s leading scorer has 13 goals and 34 points in 31 matches so far this season. The 23-year-old was selected to appear in this year’s NHL All-Star Game but will now be replaced by teammate Brady Tkachuk due to his injury.

After the game Takachuk said, “It definitely stings. It definitely sucks. To be honest it was just a bullshit drama. What happened was unnecessary and dirty. You just feel for [Batherson].” He’s put in a lot of work to get where he is. It definitely sucks.”

Some online think that Dell got off lightly for his actions, especially given that this wasn’t the first time Dell had been involved in this type of game.

Out Of NHL ALl Star Game

Ottawa Senators forward Drake Batherson will miss the All-Star Game after a hit that handed Buffalo Sabers goaltender Aaron Dale a three-game suspension for interference.

Batherson was chasing a Sabers player around the net in the first round of Ottawa’s 5-0 win on Tuesday night when the goalkeeper grabbed him by his shoulder. He fell badly on the board and hurt his ankle, and the Senators’ coach D.J. Smith said he is out for the long term.

“Unfortunately, for him, the kid has a chance to go to his first All-Star game,” Smith said. “It’s a bad game by the goalkeeper. He’s done it before.”

The suspension, the first disciplinary action against Dale, would have cost him $11,250 to play.

According to Sportsnet, the Senators’ captain Brady Tkachuk said, “Frankly, it was just a (devoid of) game.” “What happened was unnecessary and dirty. You feel for the bus (Drake). He has worked hard to get to where he is. It definitely sucks.
