Who is

Weir was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and educated at Daniel Stewart and Melville College. He studied at the Scottish Agricultural College from 1988 to 1991, obtaining a Higher National Diploma.

Weir began playing rugby for Stewart’s Melville FP RFC, then he played for Melrose RFC in the Borders and was part of the team that won six Scottish club championships.

He was selected for the Reds trial side on 4 January 1992 to play against the Blues trial side. After the match, The Aberdeen Press and Journal gave Weir a prophetic howler in their assessment.

Either way, though, the selectors shouldn’t fall back on dodgy wear for the boiler-room. The Melrose youngster should have a future at No.8. It is not heavy enough to tangle with the huge English locks.

Kids

Doddy Weir has three children named Hamish, Angus and Ben.

Hamish, Angus and Ben are the three children of former Scottish rugby player Dodie and his wife Cathy. The couple welcomed their first son, Hamish, who is now 21, four years after they married.

Eldest Weir, who is following in his father’s footsteps and playing for the Melrose first team this season, is currently attracting attention for his exceptional skills.

Despite sharing his father’s height, Hamish is not a second rower and is usually used as a wing or fullback, due to his quickness of foot and power.

Their youngest son, Ben, is 19, and their second son, Angus, is now 20.

Age

The 52-year-old’s pitch-side appearance marked the fifth anniversary of his charity My Name’5 Dodi Foundation. Both fans and players paid their respects to Weir, who has now raised thousands for research into the condition, reports Edinburgh Live.

Speaking earlier in the week, head coach Gregor Townsend says his side are aiming a historic win for friend and former teammate Weir as the milestone for the Scottish Rugby Foundation, which has now funded research projects A commitment of around £8 million has been made.

Is still alive

Ex-Scotland rugby star Dodie Weir says she is “surprised” to be alive six years after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND).

The 52-year-old said this while receiving an honorary degree from Abertay University.

The award was in recognition of his “tireless advocacy” to improve the lives of people living with MND.

The 61-time Scotland international was diagnosed with MND in 2016.
He paid tribute to his family and friends, saying he “didn’t think for a minute” he would be celebrating his silver wedding anniversary next week.

The campaigner revealed he was trying to regain his sense of taste after contracting Covid in February, but “can still enjoy a Guinness”.

He said: “I completely wonder why I’m still here. A few years ago I celebrated my 50th birthday, which was a huge step forward.

“I think the reason is that when people are told they have MND, basically they’re told they have a year or two to live, and you follow that because that’s the norm. Is.

“So for me to be six years old is pretty incredible.”
