Dk Metcalf: Vs saints| Is playing week 6| Strikeout| Is Injured
Vs Saints:
The battle between New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore and Seattle Seawhawks receiver DK Metcalf got pretty heated early during Monday night’s game in Seattle.
Metcalf burned Lattimore on an 84-yard touchdown toss from Gino Smith to give the Seahawks a 7-0 lead at the 10:22 mark of the first quarter.
It appeared that officials could have flagged Metcalf for offensive pass interference with the receiver reaching out to make contact with Lattimore, who stumbled to the ground. Instead, Metcalf evaded one more defender as he raced to the end zone.
Is playing week 6:
Heading into Week 5, Metcalf was on top of the fantasy world — or at least, almost. After teammate Tyler Lockett produced back-to-back top-10 WR performances to start the season, Metcalf earned two of his own top-10 efforts in Weeks 3 and 5. In fact, he has 4 touchdowns in his last three games. And, if not for Russell Wilson’s injury, Metcalf would be an obvious must-start until … well, until Wilson was no longer his quarterback.
That happened sooner than expected. In his 10th NFL season, Wilson is about to miss his first game. Enter former Jets second-rounder Geno Smith, who is on his fourth team since 2016 and has not started a game since 2017.
Strikeout: Dk Metcalf
Metcalf shockingly struck out during the celebrity softball game, with musician Quavo fanning him on four pitches, which is definitely a sentence that’s weird to type and read in the year 2021.
Though there’s certainly no shame in striking out, Metcalf was the only celebrity to whiff during the contest. In his defense, that first strike seemed a bit outside. (Robo Umps Now!)
Baseball (or softball) is tremendously difficult, even when you’re a pro athlete of Metcalf’s caliber. The Seahawks wideout had some fun with prodding fans and observers Monday.
Is injured:
It appears as if Friday’s practice DNP was purely a cautious measure as the star wideout didn’t even appear on the final injury report the following day.
The Seahawks have operated under this same cadence with Metcalf in back-to-back weeks, so fantasy managers may expect a similar strategy moving forward as the team tries to preserve the 23-year-old’s health over the subsequent weeks.
