In 2003, Djokovic began his professional career. In the age of 20, he won his first Grand Slam victory at the 2008 Australian Open, breaking Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s 11-major winning streak.

Vs Medvedev

Djokovic

Daniil Medvedev made and spoiled history on Sunday, capturing his first major title and preventing Novak Djokovic from completing the Grand Slam with a shocking 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 triumph against the World No. 1 in the US Open final.

The Serbian star was attempting to break a tie with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for the most major wins in history by becoming the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to win all four majors in a single season (20 each). But Medvedev, like Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Marat Safin, played calm, patient tennis to become the third Russian man to win a Grand Slam.

Vs Berrettini

Djokovic

Djokovic defeated Matteo Berrettini 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 to move two victories away from being the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to win all four majors in the sports.

Djokovic dropped the first set for the third straight match at Flushing Meadows — and the ninth time in a major in 2021 — but it didn’t matter because he quickly corrected his strokes and defeated No. 6 seed Matteo Berrettini 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 in a quarterfinal that started Wednesday night and ended after midnight Thursday.

Vs Zverev

Djokovic

Novak Djokovic used his steely grit to beat Alexander Zverev in a five-set thriller in the US Open semi-final. Djokovic won the match 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to reach his tenth US Open Final, where he will face Daniil Medvedev.

Since his third-round match against American Jack Sock, Zverev hasn’t dropped a set, and he appears to be the most serious threat to Djokovic’s hopes (again).
