Diego Schwartzman has won three ATP titles in his career. At 5′ 7″ (170 cm), Schwartzman became the shortest Grand Slam quarterfinalist at the 2017 US Open since Jaime Yazaga (5′ 7″) at the US Open 1994. His best major results came at the French Open 2020, where he reached the semi-finals, and the US Open 2017 and 2019, where he reached the quarterfinals.
Argentina won the ATP 250 tournament in Istanbul in 2016. However, the 2018 ATP 500 title at the Rio Open remains the biggest title of Schwartzman’s career so far.

How does being 5’7″ affect you as a tennis pro? What do you think you could have done if you were taller?
My answer is always the same: I have worse problems with being 10 cm shorter than everyone else.
When I walk on the tennis court, I don’t think about how tall I am or how big my opponent is. I know there is a difference, but what?
Maybe if I was 10 or 15 centimeters taller, I’d have better serve or be able to hit with more power. But my height is not going to change. I’m not going to wake up the size of John Isner or Ivo Karlovic.
There are many reasons why I might not have made it here, but they have nothing to do with my size.
Before I was born, my family made a wonderful living in South America. He had a clothing and jewelry company, which earned him a lot of money. He had a house in Uruguay where he visited every December and January to enjoy the summer. He had one house in the capital and the other outside the capital. He had many cars. Life was wonderful.
But things changed as soon as I was born. My family lost everything. In Argentina in the 1990s, the government cut imports. My father kept spending money trying to get things from outside the country, but there was no chance and he started doing worse and worse and worse. It was totally bullshit. My mother tried to bring fabric material from China, but there was no way to get it in Argentina.
