On Monday, rookie Desmond Bain scored 17 points to help the Memphis Grizzlies knock out the Houston Rockets and improve the season to .500.
Bane ended up converting 7-of-10 shots from the field during the 120-110 victory, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. In the season, Bane has been shooting 45.8% from beyond the arc, leading all rookies and ranked seventh among all eligible players in the NBA.
Bain’s performance continued the recent strong run for the 30th overall pick. In his last eight games with the Grizzlies, Bane averaged 9.3 points and 3.3 rebounds on 53.6% shooting (15-of-26) from 3-point range.
Position
Bane was selected by the Boston Celtics as the 30th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He became the first TCU player since 1995 to be selected in the first round. Bain was later traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. On November 25, 2020, the Memphis Grizzlies announced that they had signed Bain. Bane was named an All-Rookie after his rookie season. Was selected for the second team. He had the highest three-point field goal percentage in a rookie season since Stephen Curry (minimum 150 attempts). He is the all-time leader in three point field goal percentage in franchise history. On December 5, 2021, Bain scored a career-high 29 points and nine rebounds in a 97–90 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
