NFL Commissioner Deshaun Watson said Tuesday at league owners’ meetings that the NFL does not yet have enough information about the 22 civil lawsuits filed by Watson alleging sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior to decide on potential discipline. have been made, and this information is not sufficient to persuade the league to place him on the commissioner’s exemption list.

“Obviously, the police are investigating, and at this time we don’t have access to all that information,” Goodell said. “We pride ourselves on not interfering and being as cooperative as we can to get all the facts. I think that process is still on.”

Watson, who has a no-trade clause in his contract, has informed the Texans that he wants to trade and has no plans to play for them again. Deshaun Watson has been appearing at the team’s facility every day since the start of training camp, but the team has been content to leave him on the inactive list for each of their seven regular-season games so far.

The Texans have been in contact with several teams regarding a potential trade for Watson, but interested teams are hesitant to meet the asking price due to uncertainty about Houston’s legal status and potential discipline from the league.

Even with the NFL trade deadline, the Texans are reportedly firm in their trade demands for any deals involving Deshan Watson. The Texans are in no rush to strike a deal, because even if they don’t get Watson’s ride by the November 2 trade deadline, they will still have time in the off-season for more trade talks before the April 28 NFL Draft.

Last week, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported that trade discussions between the Texans and Dolphins had intensified and a deal could be struck soon. On Monday, there were reports that the Panthers were going to jump into trade talks for a Texans quarterback after losing Sam Darnold to the Giants.

Fantasy

Deshan Watson is healthy and has the potential to be a top five fantasy football player, but he is sitting on the strings of exemptions in most leagues this year. We all know why, but with the NFL’s trade deadline coming to an end and Watson trade rumors heating up, it’s likely the star QB adds Top 8 fantasy discount wire pickups and free agents. Luckily, there are some players who are actually playing, who are worth playing this week as well. Miles Sanders-backups Kenneth Gainwell and Davante Adams’ “handcuffs” Alan Lazard will probably need claims, but Yahoo and ESPN will see most of this week’s pickups as free agents after discounts on the league Wednesday around 4-5 a.m. ET. will be targeted. (Update: Lazard is also on the COVID list and unlikely to play, giving Randall Cobb more upside as the Packers’ top receiver.)

Our full free agent list includes more worthwhile pickups and stashes like Rashod Bateman, Boston Scott, Russell Gage, CJ Uzoma and Michael Gallup, but most can be found at the end of the price list where we host many QB, WR, Potential Week 8 streamers on TE, and D/ST. Plus, if you’re wondering if you should drop Justin Tucker during his goodbye week, you can get answers and find a replacement with the help of our 8 Week Kicker Rankings.

Trade

Time is running out for the Dolphins and Texans to fully agree on a trade for Houston quarterback Deshan Watson.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Miami owner Stephen Ross has reportedly approved the business, but on condition that Watson’s legal issues be settled before a deal is struck.

Watson is facing 22 civil cases of sexual misconduct and 10 women have filed police complaints. Watson denied the allegations shortly after they were made public in March.

The Dolphins and Texans have reportedly agreed to compensation on a deal that would send Watson to Miami, but his off-field issues could stall the whole process. And it’s unlikely Watson’s legal woes will be resolved before the November 2 business deadline.

The NFL Network reported Wednesday that the Panthers — the other team closely associated with Watson — will no longer pursue him this season. Watson has so far waived his no-trade clause only for Dolphins.
