Sacked
Manly has sensationally sacked coach Des Hasler in a bitter split and is set to replace the club legend with ex-South Sydney and Brisbane coach Anthony Siebold.
The board met on Thursday morning and decided to part ways with the coach, despite Hustler agreeing to a number of changes for the next season.
Owner Scott Penn and CEO Tony Mastrove confirmed the news Thursday night via a club statement.
“After careful consideration, the board of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles has today unanimously decided that, in the best interest of the club, Des Hasler will not be the club’s head coach for the NRL season 2023,” Penn said.
“The Board and the Club would like to acknowledge Deus and his long history with the club as a player and a coach, enjoying two Premierships with the club as a player and two as a coach. And taking it to the Premiership.
“We are grateful and appreciative of Des for his long-standing dedication to the club, the team, all its supporters and sponsors. Des will always be a symbol of the club and an integral part of the club’s history.
