How long will be out

Some national media outlets see the Titans as worse than the week before despite a four-game win streak.

Some are willing to wait and see. Others have already drawn their conclusions.

There is no doubt that the Tennessee Titans will be a different team without Derrick Henry, who is out for weeks – possibly the remainder of the regular season – with a foot injury.

Does that mean they will be a worse team? In the minds of some who compile weekly NFL power rankings, it does. Of those surveyed this week, three have the Titans ranked worse than the previous week despite a four-game win streak that has lifted them to the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Two dropped Tennessee all the way out of the top 10.

Replacement

The Titans didn’t wait long to add reinforcements after Derrick Henry injured his leg in a 34–31 Week 8 win over the Colts. He knew he needed a proven back with only Jeremy McNichols among the healthy backs on the team’s roster.

That’s why Adrian Peterson joined the team so early. Hours after the news of Henry’s injury, reports circulated that the Titans were working on Pietersen as a possible replacement option. Came to Tennessee impressed by his workouts. As such, they briefly agreed to a practice squad deal with him.

Obviously, Henry’s injury is the main reason the Titans signed Pietersen. After all, they’re one of the AFC’s best teams, and if they want to race after the season, they’ll need to get a production out of their RB without Henry. This would have been hard to do without a proven veteran in folding, so Peterson fits in with that approach.

But what are the other reasons the Titans signed Pietersen? And how do they plan to use that? Here are the answers to those two important questions.

Foot surgery

The Titans chasing Derrick Henry had leg surgery this morning and I was told it was “all right”.
Surgery completed, Henry is now recovering.

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry had surgery on his leg on Tuesday, and the procedure went off without a hitch.

According to ESPN’s Diana Rassini, Henry’s surgery “goed well” and he will now begin the recovery and rehab process, which will take a long time.

It is not yet known exactly how long this will take. Some reports have suggested he may be out for the rest of the season, while another suggest Henry could be back in six to 10 weeks.
