Hair down:
Tennessee Titans star running back Derrick Henry is solidifying his place among the elite players in the NFL. The former Alabama Crimson Tide Heisman winner has switched into a new gear since the beginning of the 2019 season, using his combination of size and strength to dominate opposing defenses.
It’s impossible not to notice Titans’ Derrick Henry on the football field. King Henry stands in at a staggering 6-foot-3 and weighs 247 pounds. Imagine trying to bring him down in the open field.
Workout:
With an 85 pound bar, he does 10 sets of 10 reps each of rotating skull crushers, chest press, standing rows, overhead press, and bicep curls. Along with weighted bar shoulder shrugs, Henry’s other sets include pull-ups, rows, and jump rope.
Derrick Henry is an athletic freak, a 6-foot-3, 242-pound running back with 4.5-second speed in the 40-yard dash who has become one of the top running backs in college football. He can also lift a lot of weight. In this video, Alabama’s star ballcarrier squats more than 500 pounds.
Speed:
According to Next Gen Stats, Henry was clocked at 21.8 MPH on the run, the fastest of any ball carrier in the NFL this season. However, if you asked him, Henry believes that it was not his best performance.
Run: Derrick Henry
The Titans’ running back leads the league with 783 rushing yards and 921 all-purpose yards.
With exception to his 60-yard touchdown run in Week 2 against Seattle, Henry did not have a run longer than 22 yards until the 76-yarder on “Monday Night Football.”
Today:
The score gave the Titans a 7-6 lead, one of seven lead changes on the night. He’s surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark in five consecutive games, a career-best for him.
And he will look to continue his dominance in the ground game against a Kansas City Chiefs rush defense allowing 5.2 yards per carry, tied for second-most in the league.
