Born in America on June 26, 1974, Derek Sanderson Jeter is a former professional baseball shortstop, businessman, and baseball executive.
Jeter played for the New York Yankees for the duration of his 20-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career.

Hall of fame ceremony
When Derek Jeter is honoured in the Hall of Fame on Friday night at Yankee Stadium, his daughters can’t wait to get ice cream and hot dogs.
Before the big game, when the Yankees play the Rays, Jeter tweeted a video of him talking to his daughters in a car.
Bella Raine, 5, Story Grey, 3, and River Rose, who was born last December, are the daughters of Jeter and his wife, model Hannah Davis Jeter.
One of his daughters said, “I want to eat ice cream,” when the Yankees great asked what she wanted to do that night.
The 48-year-old Jeter then asked if they wanted to join the players on the field.
“I’m not very good at baseball.
One kid remarked, “I don’t want to break my leg like you did.
Davis laughed as he looked to be recording the video.
Although many voices may be heard, only Jeter can be seen in the video.
Tribute
Derek Jeter, a former player for the New York Yankees, had his name inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown just over a year ago.
The Yanks will also pay tribute to their former captain in the Bronx on Friday night.
